I would like to say that my husband and I have lived a charmed life, and that we live in a state of “happily ever after!” Yes, we grew up here in a sleepy Southern town, which boasted more farm machinery than cars, and where the highlight of the weekend was playing on the lake or riding four-wheelers. High school sweethearts, we married in 1998, celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this year. After college, we decided to return “home” to Mooresville, NC, to be close to our families and friends and to build our businesses in a community that we knew and loved. But our life has been anything but the fairytale you see on HGTV.The Fields at Skycrest has been no overnight success story. Most stories that are worth anything take time. We have fought hard for our small businesses, fought hard for our marriage at times, and fought hard for our family. Being self employed is not for the faint of heart and has meant working seven days a week for practically the last twenty years. Todd’s business, Lake Norman Chiropractic, and my own Willow Branch Flowers and Design, have grown and thrived beyond what we, at twenty-two years old, could have imagined. In 2010, we were blessed with our daughter Mary-Charles.

For the past 20 years, I have made heart-felt connections with hundreds of couples and corporate clients, and learned about the many facets of the wedding business. Throughout this process, both Todd and I have relied on our faith for direction and inspiration. Our journey has taken us to where we find ourselves now, curating a piece of property where we will both be able to enjoy and share the “farm life” of our roots. The venue constructed in 2020-21 is the result of our dreams, answered prayers, and God's blessing on our family.
